63. Which connector do I use to interface the DigitalYacht AIT250 AIS Module with a Raymarine C or E series?
The AIT250 has a NMEA output (a simple two wire connection) which will connect to the NMEA input on a Raymarine C/E series. You need to make sure you have the latest software installed on your C/E series and this is available as a download from Raymarine. You download onto a blank compact flash card and plug into the C/E series slot. The only issue is if the NMEA input is being used for another product - eg a fast heading sensor etc, in which case you will need a multiplexer to mix the two strings of data together. Eissing and Actisense offer appropriate units.

65. If I connect GPS to the EasyAIS will it relay both position data and AIS data to my laptop via the single serial/USB connection or do I need to use a separate GPS port?
The system will relay GPS data through the single serial output. You will need a 3rd party USB-serial adaptor to connect to a laptop. However, your laptop and software will receive all data at the higher AIS speed not the normal 4800 NMEA baud rate. Your software may not then recognise the data.

These products are generally items that have been returned to the manufacturer because of commercial over stock reasons or items that have been sent out as advance warranty replacements and no fault has been found. They are then reworked as "new" by the manufacturer. The only issue may be brown box packaging etc. They are 100% new, fully tested and represent remarkable good value.
The warranty period is 12 months. |
