Digital Yacht WLN10 Smart NMEA to WiFi Gateway Digital Yacht’s new WLN10 Smart NMEA to WiFi gateway takes iPad and tablet integration afloat even further with the ability to connect to existing on board GPS, AIS and instrument systems and transfer data wirelessly to an iPad or tablet – allowing compatible apps to display and compute with real time information. The WLN10 creates a secure, password protected Wi-Fi network on board to footprint the boat with data.
When connected to, for example, an AIS system, real time AIS target positions and identity data will be displayed on detailed electronic charting through compatible apps including NavLink, TimeZero, iAIS, iSailor, Seapilot and hundreds more. The tablet becomes a full function navigation display.
This new version of the WLN10 can now be programmed through its simple browser interface for NMEA 0183 data at 4800 or 38400 baud as well as allowing multiple devices to connect so you can be using a PC at the chart table with an iPad on deck. No internet connection is required. Many consumers get confused and automatically associate Wi-Fi with internet. The WLN10 Smart creates a Wi-Fi network and the local iPad or tablet users searches for this in the same way they search for a Wi-Fi hotspot. Once connected, NMEA data is sent over the local link created on board the boat.
How many devices can connect?
Up to 7 devices can connect using UDP. TCP/IP is a one to one connection format. PCs, MACs, Android and iOS are all compatible.

What is the difference between the WLN10 Smart and the old WLN10?
It’s a complete new chipset with improved performance, fully opto-isolated input and outputs, web interface for programming SSID, passwords and baud rate to make stocking and installing easier. It is also competitively priced.
Are there other models in the series?
The new WLN30 will be available shortly with 3 inputs for more complex systems. Our SeaTalk to NMEA interface can also be used to offer SeaTalk connectivity and we will shortly release a NMEA 2000 adaptor
I already have a Wi-Fi router on board – can I connect the WLN10 Smart to an existing network?
Yes! You can program this through the web interface so you just have one Wi-Fi network on board with the WLN10 Smart linked directly to that as a client. This works well with Furuno WiFi radar installations
