Review by SAILING TODAY MARCH '06
'This simple little unit charges up to four AA or AAA size NiCad or NiMH rechargeable batteries simply by plugging it into a cigar lighter socket wired to the ship's 12V supply - or to the same kind of socket in a car. It has a frosted plastic door to protect the batteries during charging and automatically discharges the cells before recharging them to keep the 'memory' effect of NiCad batteries to an absolute minimum. Recharging four AA batteries takes about two hours to complete.
The MW1268 charger proved very effective in keeping both a hand-held GPS and a portable CD player supplied with well charged batteries over the course of last season.
The device only measures 4½"H x 3"W x 1¼"D, so takes up little room. The plastic case looks brittle, but nothing has happened to it so far, even after it fell onto the cabin sole.
Verdict:
A handy little charger unit that stows anywhere and can be used on the move to keep instruments fed with operational batteries '
